Our Story
The Beginning
Hi, I’m Maddie, the owner of Murphy’s Mates.
Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and I’ve built my experience through working across different areas of the dog industry, including dog boarding kennels and professional dog walking/ training and working in a vets too. Over the years I’ve worked with dogs of all breeds, sizes, temperaments, and personalities, helping me develop a calm, confident, and caring approach to every dog I meet.
I also work alongside my cousin, Teddy Stevens, who specialises in training protection dogs (bitework) and sniffer dogs. Through this, I’ve gained valuable hands-on experience and understanding of dog behaviour, training, and handling. Teddy also owns two Dutch Shepherds himself, giving me further exposure to high-drive working breeds and advanced dog handling.
My business is named after my first ever dog, Murphy — my soul dog — who sadly passed away nearly two years ago. Murphy was the reason my passion for dogs became something much bigger, and his memory is at the heart of everything I do.
For your peace of mind, I am fully DBS checked, insured, and pet first aid trained, so you can feel confident your dog is in safe and caring hands at all times.
